Hoʻokele Elementary School
Situated across the street from Kapolei High School, the latest addition to the public elementary school system stands as a testament to innovative construction practices. This 78,404-square-foot campus holds the distinction of being the first school in Hawaii to be built using design-build criteria. It comprises seven interconnected buildings surrounding a central courtyard, which encompasses essential facilities such as a library, cafeteria, and a dedicated arts and science building. Equipped with air-conditioned classrooms, the campus also features learning gardens, flexible learning spaces, and a covered play court. Furthermore, the design incorporates multiple drop-off entries for parents and school buses, along with expansion areas to accommodate future growth.
